Yuga Labs' New TwelveFold Collection - The Perfect Blend of Art and Crypto
Yuga Labs has just announced an exciting new project: TwelveFold. This is a collection of 300 generative art pieces that will live on the Bitcoin blockchain.
Here's what you need to know about it:
The collection is experimental and limited edition.
Each piece is inscribed onto a satoshi, which is the smallest unit of Bitcoin.
The inscribed satoshis can be located by tracking when they were minted in time via the Ordinal Theory protocol.
The collection explores the relationship between time, mathematics, and variability, using a base 12 art system localized around a 12x12 grid.
It includes highly-rendered 3D elements as well as hand-drawn features, as an homage to the ordinal inscriptions currently done by hand.
What's really interesting about this project is that it uses a new method called inscribing, which connects data to an individual satoshi and hosts metadata (like the artwork) on-chain. This method allows satoshis to operate as if they are non-fungible, which is essentially enabling the concept of NFTs on the Bitcoin blockchain.
If you're interested in bidding on one of these pieces, here's what you need to do:
First, you'll need a self-custodial wallet that contains the Bitcoin you wish to use to place a bid.
Second, you'll need an empty Bitcoin address to receive the piece if your bid is successful.
